ok im ready to purchase an upgrade for photoshop cs4. but we run 64 bit systems and the sole reason we are purchasing it is to take advance of the more than 2gb benefit.

problem: i cant find a 32 bit or 64 bit version.

question: are there two different versions or is the same version the one i should buy and is it capable for a 64 bit system to get the benefit of the memory allocation above 2gb.

thanks!

The only versions I know are the Mac (32bit) And Windows (that run on XP 32 bit and Vista 32 and 64 bit) I just upgraded both my premium suites before they raise the prices

Photoshop CS4 Extended is no faster, just more tools.

You just need a 64 bit Windows OS, a computer that can handle it, and enough ram to take advantage of it.

They don't have a copy just for 64 bit. If your computer is running XP/Vista 64 bit edition then you will be able to take advantage of the extra ram.

There isn't. I would guess that it is an upgrade version, education version, or pirated.

We are an authorized Adobe resellers and there is VERY LITTLE markup on the CS4 suite.

Also, Adobe doesn't support Photoshop 64 Bit on XP64, only Vista64. As a matter of fact, many folks can't get it to work on XP64 at all. The rest of the suite will install and work correctly, just not the 64 Bit version of Photoshop. The 32 Bit version should work fine. I am not sure if you have XP or Vista, but just a thought.

TD, if you have any questions, I am pretty educated on the 64Bit side of things. PM if I can be of any assistance.

I'm not sure I understand it either...lol

Some programs will allow you an upgrade if you are using a simular product but you are starting to use theirs. For instance Word Perfect allows an upgrade if you have MS Word.

I had adobe cs on my laptop and I think I made a back up. That computer crashed so I don't know if I could use that as an up grade to the new computer.

I guess what I'm asking is.. Does Adobe allow an upgrade if you have competitors software like CorelDraw? If so can I use CorelDraw versions 9 or 11 in vista to upgrade?

What is the upgrade looking for in order to continue to load? What exactly is an upgrade in Adobe world?

The answer is yes when you install Photoshop CS4 there are to two listed in the program list and one has 64 after it, that is the 64 bit version. I have seen it work fine on a XP64 machine just can't use the directx option on the video card cause XP64 doesn't support that.

If you install PS CS4, you get both versions (32Bit and 64Bit). There are a few issues if you run the alienskin filters. Some of their filters only run in the 32 Bit version.

I see. Yes, you can upgrade from some Corel applications as well as most Adobe applications. They list the applications on th Adobe website or you can call them and they will give you a yes or no.

Thank you. This is what I see on the adobe web site.

Discounted upgrade pricing is only for eligible upgrade paths. Upgrade from Adobe Creative Suite 2, Creative Suite 1, Macromedia Studio 8, Studio MX 2004, or Production Studio to Creative Suite 4 for the same price as an upgrade from Creative Suite 3. Offer does not apply to Master Collection upgrades.

Looks like Corel is out of the picture for upgrades to CS4. That makes the Corel program the better deal for me.

it may be the better deal but you need to evaluate what you will do with it. sometimes its a matter of preference but sometimes its necessary tools. thats one of those things to look at .... just like buying a signburst might be more expensive but it sure will get you a lot farther than a dell because its meant to do our work ... just a perspective

My work is more with working with gif and jpeg files so I really don't need the same thing as most sign writers need. I wanted to check out the new programs to convert video files to gif files but I am finding that it is far less expensive to buy the stand alone programs for what I need. I do have CorelDraw 11 to work with. It's just a little time consuming to make a gif with it.
