Customer specifying color, and I'm not sure it will work. Paint help

I have a customer that specified a Sherwin Williams color, and I'm concerned that it won't last.

I have a set of 1/4" thick letters that are cut from PVC (Komatex) that will be attached to sheet of .040 brushed alum that was cut into a shape, and mounted to the wall. I'm concerned that the sherwin williams paint won't bond to the pvc, and flake off, and I'm also concerned that painting it will be an issue. I really don't want to try to brush / roll the paint on...I'd rather spray it.

Any tips or tricks to make this work, or a type of paint that I can ask for to make this go as smoothly as possible.

Thanks in advance,
Mark

Can you prime the letters before mounting with Krylon Fusion spray paint?
I did that once when forced to use PVC pipes as a mounting system.

Matthews Paint and I'm sure many others can match Sherwin Williams colors (and Benjamin Moore and PMS). It's available premixed by the quart from sign supply dealers. Nasty two part paint, so if you try it, use all safety precautions.

Jill's method will let you use the SW paint. Just prime it with something that sticks to PVC then topcoat with SW. You should be able to spray it.

Call Sherwin Williams, they are very helpful and can answer your questions. I am pretty much only using their paint now, but I haven't had to paint any PVC yet. And yes, you can spray it.

if your dealing with a S/W store, and YOU have the color chip........ask them to mix in AUTOMOTIVE SINGLE STAGE ACRYLIC ENAMEL......sand PVC lightly, spray with AUTOMOTIVE PRIMER, then top coat with acrylic enamel color with hardener. paint will last like it does on an automobile. 7-10 YEARS.

I spray SW formulas all the time. If our painter is swamped, we'll order it from them, otherwise the Mathews Paint online system has a conversion for SW colors.

on that note, any paint supplier should be able to match your spec'd SW color.

don't mess around with that Krylon for plastic paint as it works but not for long. do the above and you know it will work and last

None of the off the shelf spray will last. Trust me. We paint 2 part epoxy on all pvc and then spray with latex it will hold and it will last we use bemoore paints
