Cutting Acrylic?

Hey guys, I'm having a hard time scoring and snapping larger pieces of 1/4" acrylic, whenever I go to snap them , they crack. I was thinking off cutting the 1/4" with a circular saw but I was wondering what kind of blade I would need. Also, any tips for finishing the edges (sand paper etc). Thanks for all your help!

They actually make a special plexi saw blade... I think it made by Freud. We use it all the time and it's pretty awesome.

There was a thread a little while back that had some good info on blades and cutting acrylic. Try doing a search as it might answer all your questions.

I would imagine you can probably walk into most any hardware store and buy a blade for cutting plastic. If you can't find one, you want a high TCG tooth count (80+) and a negative rake angle (like -2 or -3 is good). Be careful with a negative rake if you're using it in a table saw or hand saw as it tends to kick back.

Okay thank you!
