cutting registration marks are rectangular, not square?

I was laminating a print for cutting and kept staring at the registration squares and realized that they are not square. I even measured them and they are indeed rectangular. I print and cut from Flexi and thought why it would do this when 99.9% of the time they are perfectly square.

I was a little worried when I cut it, thinking that it would not know the true registration, but no, it cut perfectly.

I wonder what conditions make the printer do this? or maybe the software?

could it be a media feed issue? Sometime my first reg marks out are visible then the last ones will be cut off.
