Decal pricing HELP PLEASE!

I just got a call from one of my regular customers who wants pricing on 3 x 5 in decals on vinyl no lamination as these are extreme short term for bags and boxes that end up in the garbage within a day or 2. They are looking at pricing for 5,000 and 10,000 pcs. What I would like to know is what others might charge for these quantities. I realize others don't like pricing on the forums so feel free to PM me.

The other part is that I am already in the process of looking into a Mutoh VJ 1204 and would like to know how many would do these in house or send them out. There is no real time crunch In turn around. One thing to keep in mind is this will be a regular order about once every year or so. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

These should not be done in house - not if you want the job. Try www.consolidatedlabels.com They should be done on paper, on a flexographic press.

Think of it like this..............

You do these in-house and make a decent profit, but you're really only making pennies based on a lon-n-n-n-n-n-g run. You could probably be doing so many other money making jobs that this will become a burden in no time. You'll constantly be changing out stock because this job will take you so long. and to satisfy your other customer's, it will become the job from Hell. Sub it out and it will be like having a second machine running the little stuff.

Very well said Gino and much appreciated for your thoughts as well as others. The. It unanswered question is price. I have never priced out this number of decals. I realize I can take my cost and use my formula to get my selling price but am curious as to what others would get.

I would call Stouse & consolidated listed above, then see what your markup is & go from there. or if you have no idea where to start; do a google search for label printing companies & request a RETAIL PRICE quote or two.

Yea, I just always charge what stouse's retail price is...unless the customer is a PITA.
