Delayed Contour???

I have an odd request, and thought soemone else here had run into the isssue before & how they deal with it.

I have a round emblem (10") with a bleed on it, and also need an overlap of 1/2" extra laminate around the whole decal. I can put the two contours into the file, but how do you tell it to only contour one line?
I figured you could print the decal, cut both lines, weed it, laminate it, register the marks, then cut the laminate... but it'd want to cut both lines again the 2nd time also, correct?

Do I need two files?

It have been awhile, but if I remember I printed and cut, weeded, laminated and then re-loaded the ART FILE and cut only. Remember to NOT weed off the registration marks. So yes two files, like I said it was about two years ago I did this. I had a roland book that showed how to do it and some other tricks.

I have done this with two separate files.

- Create an artboard, I use illustrator, that is the size to fit your graphics. Place your first cut file along with your graphics and send to your RIP.

- Keeping that same artboard, place your second cut line where you want it and hide all of the other graphics and first cut line. Send that file to your RIP.

Since both of the files will have the same dimensions, after you print and cut your first file with the registration marks, when you put it back in after it is laminated, the cut lines from the second file will line up in the correct spot. Just be sure to not remove the registration marks.

I have had good luck doing this.
