Digital press that can print white ink?

Hey guys,
Im looking for a printer that can print on thick cardstock (up to 350gsm +) that has the ability to print white ink. I’m based in Australia and my budget is under $40k

The main one I’ve been able to find is an Oki pro 9452 but I haven’t heard the best reviews, especially in terms of the opacity of the white. I’m going to be using it mainly for wedding invitations/stationary where the white text is going to be quite small when printed on card stock so I want something that will print white quite crisp against dark cardstock (I know I can print darker backgrounds on white card stock and remove the text from that but I want to actually print white). Has anybody had experience with this or could recommend something better?

Xerox doesn’t seem to be available here, I think it’s been bought out by Fuji and called Fujifilm now but the only white ink capable one that I can see is the Revoria press pc1120 and I think that’s going to be way out of budget (still waiting for a quote). Also feels like a bit of overkill for what we’re going to be using it for.

I’m also waiting for a quote for a Ricoh pro C7500 but I also feel that’s going to be out of budget and overkill too.

Surely there are others out there that aren’t full blown production units but better quality than the Oki?

I already have a UV printer and don’t want to do it on that as I want something more automated where it’ll print multiple sheets without me having to lay and line each one up.

Would really appreciate any advice or recommendations if you have any

We’ve owned a similar Ricoh that printed white a few years ago. Be careful if you go this route, ours were not good machines. The first machine had to be swapped out in the first 3 months and the second was constantly down. It did image nicely and the white was very opaque. We had them max out the amount of white toner the machine could lay down.

It’s possible they have the bugs worked out now. ALWAYS incorporate uptime expectations into the contract when you purchase/lease new equipment. If the company won’t write them into the contract, don’t buy the equipment.
