Dirt/dust on prints.

We have had our Valuejet 1604 from new back in 2007 and it still is going strong!
Over the last 2/3 months I have seen an excessive amount of debris/dust/dirt on our prints.
I was at a loss where it was coming from until last week and it seems to be coming of the rubber rollers which clamp the material down.
It seems that the dirt is the rubber which has expanded slightly and is rubbing on the plastic part of the clamps/
Has anyone come across this issue?
Is it a good idea to trim them back or should I just see if I can buy some new ones?

Thanks

Buy some new ones.
When the rollers start to fail all kinds of stuff can happen to the print and it can be hard to track down until you change out the rollers and it goes away.
Once one or two of them give up the rest lose the will to live & stop turning.
My rollers started to get gummy and would fail in the middle of a print - leaving skid marks on the material like the rear axel of a tractor trailer locking up on the freeway.
They expanded until they rubbed against the sides of the holders until they couldn't turn any more.
If you remove some of them completely, to keep printing while waiting for replacements to show up, you end up with streaks in the print where the material lifts up in the gaps.
