The fans turn on when there is media loaded. If the fans stay on all the time, your media sensor is probably blocked or broken. As long as you can print, there shouldn't be any bad side effects. If you are concerned you can try using compressed air to blow out the media sensor.

Okay i will try blowing out the sensor. Do the vj1204 have auto clean like if it is off and then it would turn on and clean and shut down?

The fan is on when media is loaded, off when not loaded.

If its like a VJ 1324 then yes it will Self clean in sleep mode, then go back to sleep.....there should be a setting that you can set the interval of how often it does this.....for example if have mine set to spit/clean every 12 hours in sleep mode. The fan is also off in sleep mode. keep media loaded when in sleep mode.

So it has to be plugged in and in sleep mode for it to auto clean? it is set that it clean before the job, do you think it should clean so much?

Thanks

Yes it needs to be stay plugged in. And on battery backup surge.
On the self cleaning sleep mode it, depends on how much you use it. Its more about spitting ink to keep the system flowing in good order and not clogging up. Do a manual cleaning on the head and at least once a week and whiper a little more often. Ink waist and cost is very little.

Clean before evey job? No thats to often. more ink spitting out ie full coverage....means more often cleaning.....i like to clean after long runs and lots ink coverage. But not every job sent to printer.
