Drain line clamp question

Jim Hill

When you clamp off a drain line I was wondering what you use to do it with.

I want to soak a capping station and then park the heads in it for a while but I need to clamp off the line with something that will let the print heads move back over the top of the capping station without interference.

That rules out my vise grips so what else do you use for this job?

Thanks Jim

i stick a large nail in the end of the line. was an "emergency measure one day and and ended up preferring it to pinching the lines.

Thanks Artbot

I went ahead and used a pair of needle nose vise grips and they worked fine.

I soaked the capping station for about one hour and then did a powerful cleaning and got some firing a little but it needs more work.

I am using the Roland cleaning solution for this task.

How long do you leave the head parked over the capping station when trying to free up a head?

On Monday morning I have to go and purchase two new cleaning cartridges for the printer.

Thanks for your advice and help. Jim Hill

the soak can be forever, usually 1.5 days should just about clear anything that will be cleared. you might look into making your own cleaning solution. especially when working on a down machine, it's nice to go through the stuff like water. (search homebrew cleaning solution, or butyl carbitol)
