The dryer heater on my 1604 isn't working. Anthing I should know before I start taking things apart to find the fuse? . . . Is it the fuse?

I think you should open the front header, some screw around toward bottom front and some crews at to top that is. The problem I got 2 weeks ago, was too hot and message error turn off the printer. When I open the front heat cover check all connection and foundout the Ribbon connect between 2 heater boards controller was'nt insert all the way down (look like the assemply at manufacture), after insert we leave the heater open you can plug power back in and test, and lucky it work fine.

Make sure unplug power before open the heater cover, check all connection first before check other parts. Hope this help.

Thanks Kevsign - I'm going to do that. What's interesting is that in the process of trying to make it print without the heater (which it wouldn't do) I restarted the machine again and lost the connection. I fixed the ip on the printer, and now it prints without the heater on. I've some more testing to do to figure out what's really going on. Could end up being a firmware issue.

Make sure that you have power to the heaters.
There are 3 power cords, 1 main, 1 heater, 1 take up.
Normally you should get a error if there is no power to the heater section.

Give us some additional information and perhaps we can help.
