I was searching on internet and found a lot of informations about DX4 heads. It seems that DX4 head from Epson 10600 is the same head used on Roland and Mutoh printers. Also seems that head ranking isnot that important. Now price everywhere on line for roland and mutoh is $650 minimum. I went on http://www.nationalparts.com/parts.aspx?mfg=Epson and looked for epson stylus pro 10600 parts. I have found they sell printhead for $130 for this printer. Epson stock # for this head is F174010. I was wondering if any of you guys rvrt tried this. Manifold could be replaced for solvent inks. Please replay if you have any ideas about this.

I can not get the link you posted to open. However it seems that you are mistaking Epson stylus pro 10600 for the DX4 part number of 10600 (which I thought was actualy 10000). I did find a manual for another printer that used the head you are refrencing and the VERY bad picture of it looked NOTHING like the DX4 heaads in my JV3 and I have replaced a few of them. I do know that the water based DX4 head is the same as the solvent all you need to do is change the manifold out but the water based heads are just as expensive these days (do to people buying and using in solvent printers) I have thought about getting with one of the companies I know in China and placing an order I am sure if there are enough interested we could get a reasonable price.

Sorry didnt mean to high jack the thread.

the cheapest i've seen is $450 a piece for a quantity of 5 coming from china.

i still think in the next few years these print heads will be about $250 a piece.
dx2 was expensive back in the day. now it's $150ish.

just give it time. until then it'd be nice if a group of buyers in the US could get together and split a quantity. hell, bypass the quantity of five. maybe there's a better price at a quantity of 10 or 15?

Artbot,
That was what I was thinking how many here need or use the DX4 heads and would like to go in together and buy a few from china. I was looking at a China distributor place just a minute ago and found that you can get the heads for around $560 give or take a little have to order 5 i think but hey if we order 50 we may get a better price (3 to 4 heads each machine) . Hell I would buy 3 just to have as spares so I could replace all the heads at once if i wanted to. That would be like buying 2 and getting one free from the local suppliers and Ebay.

Art could you PM me the formula and chemical names for the Homemade flush we spoke about.

I have search this forum and there is a lot of posts about DX4 heads that are used on Epson 10600. I guess those are the same heads like in Roland and Mutoh printers. I also tought they are from Epson 10000 but there are some guys who took DX4 head from roland and used in Epson 10600
Here is the link and you can search for those heads
http://www.nationalparts.com/Load.aspx?file=home.npd
They are official Epson parts dealer. Here is the picture of head assembly from epson 10600

I think if you purchase manifold from onliine for $30 and replace it should work.
What do you guys think?

I just tried to purchase a F086031 10600 it is a group of 3 print heads from encompass parts for $1160. 2 weeks went by and had nothing. Finally called them and after being on hold for about 30 minutes they came back on and told me that they are not allowed to sell that part. They told me I have to call epson to order the part directly because people like us are trying to use them in our Rolands or Mutohs. They require you to have an epson 10000 or 10600 printer and provide your serial # from the machine and the # from the print head set. Basically they want you to buy them from your regular printer supplier for twice the price. So all of those parts distributers on the internet that sell epson wont be able to sell that part to you. What a bunch of crap. So I am looking from china like the rest of you.

Well, I am waiting for Roland CJ_540 to arive. I know for sure it has one bad head. I am planing to take that head to epson service and see if they have same head. If they do I will order through them even if i have to pay $50 extra. I am sure they will do it
