Encoder Sensor Error

Have been working a bit with HP, who is saying if it’s not firmware (which it isn’t), then he KNOWS what the issue is.

I’m hoping prior to having HP come out to replace whoever they’re wanting to replace i could ask around if anyone’s had this similar issue. My 700w has been great since they got it working (it took a few months) but this issue has stumped me.

I’ve cleaned the crap out of the encoder strip. There’s the tiniest of scratches on the clear part in one small place but besides that it looks to be in great shape. I haven’t found much info on cleaning the encoder sensor or if that’s even possible on this machine.

Aside from that, any thoughts? I’d appreciate any and all input.

Oops, it

didn’t upload my image for some reason.

Also, had another thought, what sort of issues concerning the encoder strip being dirty can cause this sort of error? I went back to try to clean it again today and there was smudge on it so i cleaned up the carriage a bunch. I really cleaned it well several time when this issue first arose however so it would surprise me if it was the issue. . .

They fixed this issue in later iterations of the printer. I double checked this with two different techs.
Maybe the scoring but this is still the analog encoder that you get the error for. Not the strip.

Let us know how it went after HP comes with this exact part to check it. Book says so and that's what they follow.

I tried to help but give up now. Feel free to continue cleaning the strip....
