encoder strip

i have a crease in the plastic part of the encoder strip, everytime it goes back to make the contour cut i get motor feed error. the strip is getting bound up..shut it off and start over, any tips on a quick fix until i can replace it next week? thanks

Maybe try some light heat from a hot air gun . . .

Have fun. Worst thing would be you have to buy a new one. How did the crease get there, do you know?

I remember one time that I took mine out and cleaned it... Got to be very careful, or it's easy to crease it.

I had a problem a couple weeks ago getting a error code 101 or 1001.
My Roland tech advised me to clean the encoder strip with 70% alc.
never did see any residue but it seemed to solve the problem.

I was having trouble last week- I overnighted a strip and the module so that
I would have one (roland dealer doesn't always) and took the strip out and
flipped it over (on it's axis) and punched new holes- also took the module
loose and cleaned the 'lights'. It worked and is still working. but I feel better
having the parts inhouse.

Yes, but to truly be able to clean it adequately and appropriately, you have to remove it completely. THat has been in my experience only. I may stand corrected.
