Ok, any help greatly appreciated.
I need to fit a new head to my Mutoh Valuejet 1204. I had problem with shorting of head cables (was dumping black bands of interference all over prints) or within the head itself, which has either blown the head or a component on the mainboard. I now have 1x channel of yellow missing on the nozzle check, causing horrible minty green uugh prints. I've replaced all the cables - (carriage and head).
I'm going a little bit nuts reading conflicting information on whether the F186000 DX5 head for the Epson Stylus Photo will work in my machine or not. Some say it will, as long as the manifold is changed, and that even 'water based' heads differ in no way from solvent ones. It's just the manifold is different. Is this so? I'm looking to save at least $500 on buying this type of head, but don't want to buy one and then it not work, or even worse damage my machine even further.
Please, if anyone has the 'definitive' answer to this everlasting question,.......put me out of my misery!! Otherwise I'll just bite the bullet and buy a genuine green connector DX5 head and be done with it.
