Etchmark...inside or outside

I have always installed etchmark on the inside of glass. That way you view the letters through the glass. Lately I have seen some etchmark in buildings on the outside of the glass. Is there a correct way to install etchmark? What do you guys do?

we usually go outside with it, but it depends on the location.

I'll stick with the inside. It seem a little more realistic looking though the glass to me. Thanks for responses.

I always install outside, the matte finish looks much more realistic. When they sandblast glass doors, they always blast the outside, so we do the same with vinyl.
