Existing DIRECTV Customers with HD Package - $10 Monthly Credit for Two Years In response to Dish Network's "HD Free for Life", DIRECTV is offering the same, but for new customers only.
In order to avoid a backlash from those wanting to jump ship, DIRECTV is offering a $10/mo. credit for 24 months to existing customers, but you must agree to auto bill payment. The big plus is there is no extension to your contract and you do not have to change packages (for those of you with a grandfathered package like Total Choice Plus).
Just call 1-800-DIRECTV and ask them about their current "Free HD" promotion. If you get the runaround, you can call back and go straight to the retention dept. (just say "cancel service" at the automated voice prompt).
