Export to .eps/.ai = missing/overlapping pieces

This is the type of thing that happens sometimes when I export from CorelDrawX3 to an .eps or .AI file. I know how to fix this (breaking curve apart, welding, etc.) but was wondering if there is an easier way? And also WHY IT HAPPENS?

1. All items have been converted to curves
2. Problem only seems to occur on text, mostly on script fonts
3. Corel Draw X3
4. The 'centers' are still there, just have to go in and either a) make them black, or b) subtract

Examples:
1) what it should look like
2) what it exports like

This is a very simple example. I am not on comp. equipped with Corel right now to give exact example.

You type is loosing it's "compound" attributes when it's opened in Illy.
Select the full letter, inner and outer shape, and go to Object>Compound Path.
That will make the center "see through" to the background color.
