When someone sells you an extended warranty they're pretty sure that the dollar value of the amount of violence your machine is going to experience over the term of the warranty is less than the cost of the warranty. By at least half.
Cue the heart wrenching horror stories wherein someone's butt was saved from total ruin by their trusty extended warranty. Every time you hear one of these contemplate the vast majority of extended warranty holders who's butts did not need saving. Just like for every winning lottery ticket there's millions of tickets that won nothing.
