Falcon FC7000 Uneven Cutting

Bought a used FC7000. It is cutting uneven. Cuts nicely when the head is near the home position. As the cutting head makes it to the middle of the cutter it won't cut at all (I have a bunch of labels stepped across a 30" sheet).

It cuts nicely at the home position at a force of 30. I tried jacking the setting all of the way to 45 and it hasn't helped at all.

Just cutting standard coated vinyl.

Sorry...holiday weekend? Ferris is dying!?

I have this cutter 42" is FC7000-100
I would bet - assuming the platen is true...that the wear strip is worn.

Fresh blade. Test pressure at varying points along the X axis (right-to-left) as Y axis is roll out / roll back. Warranty? Call tech support?

It is not entirely impossible that the Z-axis solenoid has issues. 7000 seems lightweight as compared to previous Graphtecs I saw before I bought the 7000.

Wanna believe the 8000 is more substantial.

I purchased a used Graphtec FC7000 last year and had the same issue, after talking with a Graphtec "Tec", he suggested I change the Teflon cutting strip. If you examine yours closely, I'll bet you see almost no wear near the home position, yet in the center area, there will be a lot a wear, you can feel it with your fingernail.

I purchase a new Teflon cutting strip from SignWarehouse for about $25, simply remove the old strip, clean the surface with something to remove the old adhesive, install the new Teflon cutting strip, made all the difference in the world.

Good luck.

Homemade cutting strips?

Also, if you search this site, others have made there own cutting strips out of other materials.

Just a thought!

Also, peeling and flipping to over works. Clean the adhesive off of the back of the old strip and then glue it back in (adhesive layer, double stick tape, etc.) with the worn side down.

Yes, along w/ replacing your teflon I will replace blade holder as well. then
make sure that you only extend the blade out the thickness of the material layer(if vinyl then only to the vinyl layer) then cut test cuts gradually increasing the force until you able to weed the test cut, then do a test cut in the center, then the left.
Also make sure you have the correct blade selected in your cutting cond. the blue top blade holder houses the CB09Ublade so make sure you see that on the display.
Your symptom a lot of the times is caused by too much blade length, this along w/ corners lifting, start and stop points dont meet. ect...
