Falcon II outdoor over spray?

I'm getting some overspray along the right hand side of my vinyl. It comes in about 2-2 1\2 inches. and gradually fades to nothing Any clues on what's causing this? It's on the side where the head sits when not printing.

Think it may have something to do with the Flush Box??? There's a little pad on the top of it. Do those need replaced?

Not sure what it does, but I think the heads fire a little ink into it every pass.

It may have something to do with the flush box, yes the nozzles spray into it and may be splashing off and misting on to your print.

The pads are a consumable and need to be replaced (or cleaned) when they 'crust' over.

Possibly a dirty encoder strip on that side of the printer as well.

It is all colors?

Hey All... long time :)

Randy, I am having this same issue right now...but it goes about 8" into the print then fades away.

It is all colors....I see cyan, magenta, black.

Im going to clean the pad now, but could it be anything else?

How do I clean the encoder strip?

i think i remember a guy, this message board or some other that messed with an overspray issue for weeks. tried EVERYTHING with no luck. ended up being his drying fan had some how got skewed and air was blasting underneath the printhead at the point of the overspray.

hey randy, i cleaned the encoder strip and the flush pad.....still about 8" of overspray. The closer I look, it seems like mostly...or all...Cyan and Magenta

Any thoughts anyone?

UPDATE: I have narrowed this down after a little research.....

I watched the print heads spray into the flushing box with a super bright light, and from what I see, there is a fine mist that gets pulled toward the print as the print head assembly heads back towards the print.

I have tried cleaning the pad, changing it out with a paper towel, no pad ect ect.

Is there a way to turn down the amount of ink that gets sprayed between passes?

Or do you have any thoughts as to why this may have started out of no where?

Thanks

How old are your print heads/dampers/capping station... Have you soaked the heads before?

Sure sounded like the encoder strip in the beginning but if it's only two colors might just be a print head.

Yeah, Ive cleaned the encoder strip...its good.

It looks like the print heads are spraying too much into the flushing box, and the motion of the print head assembly is pulling the mist back with it onto the print.

****One thing I have noticed over time, is that the dampers are FULL in most of the print heads....I thought that they were suppose to be only half full, but its never given me problems before....just a thought

Why is it that the TWO print heads I bought from CMYKparts.com have always had issues....bad nozzles that keep getting worse and worse?? I dont get it. The two old print heads are always good to go, but the two that I spent 2k on are basically useless.

Just had to put that out there, cause Im pissed on a daily basis about it.

Haha you know what's funny is that I have been having problems with CMYKparts print heads as well. Too bad I didn't save the old ones. :p
