Falcon junior capping question

What is the purpose of the 2 clear hoses on the capping station? See the 2 red arrows in the picture. One goes to the under side of the black cap and the other goes to the underside of the color cap. If 1 or both of these are clogged up (blocked), what would it hurt?

Actually, you will still get suction if those hoses are clogged. That assembly is a vacuum breaker, which is supposed to stop any siphons when the cleaning cycle is finished.

If the hoses are clogged, the siphon may not break after a cleaning cycle, and there is a very good chance of the machine dumping its ink if left overnight.

Thanks, jhanson. Great explanation. That dumping think happened to me a few weeks ago. And, now I see that it happened because the black hose was clogged. Luckily, I didn't have much ink left in the black cartridge.
