I recently purchased a Falcon Outdoor printer and I Corel's website boats that it has a print/cut system included. Can anyone please tell me? I'm a small shop and buying this used printer took all my funds and I've had it 3 weeks and haven't got it making money yet! Help!

Unfortunately no, the seller used his previous RIP software to upgrade when he upgraded printers. I don't have any of my own and knew this going in, but I still got a really good deal and all so I did quick research and saw that I could use Corel (or so their website claimed) so I am not in the boat I'm in. lol

You can cut directly from Corel(not much control, from memory, where its gonna cut), but your gonna need, at least, the Signtools 4 plugin for it or purchase another RIP software to cut down on headaches.

Am I wrong but the Falcon Outdoor can not do vinyl cutting or are we talking about cut off the printed vinyl from the roll?

As mentioned by others Corel is design only.
Corel Draw versions cant cut directly to any plotting machine.
You can print to any home desk top printer using Windows printer driver.

For printing to a Large Format printer you need a RIP program.
For cutting from Corel to any plotter you need a cutting program or cutting plugin like Cocut or Signcut Pro.
Or save your work in svg and use Signblazer Elements for cutting the svg file. SignBlazer is free to be found on the web.

I'm able to cut directly from Draw X5 and Ai CS5 to my Roland cutter. I just act as if it's another printer and it just cuts away.

Old Paint is also one of the ones that jumps up and down and says that he has been able to cut directly from version 3 (not X3 mind you), if I remember correctly.

Sorry to sound like a pr*ck but you should have done more home work. Your printer will not cut just cut the print off the roll and now you need a RIP. There are many to go with So remember you get what you pay for.

Based on what you said in your first post, your machine is the same as mine. It's just a printer, not a combination printer/cutter. It has a small blade for cutting off the sheet at the end of the print job, but that's it. You'll need a cutter with contour capabilities in conjunction with this machine.

My expierience with "really good deals" are that it's just a chocolate coverd turd. There's always hidden/unforeseen expenses and when all is said and done, youve spent enough money to fix/replace that you could have gotten something new or a year old.

Just my .02

Wild west,

You are using a (Versawork) plug in/ driver for cutting to your Roland............?
Nothing inside Corel will cut directly whitout a cutter driver which is different as a printer driver.
Versawork is a RIP.

Correct me if I am wrong.

My roland is strictly a cutter, nothing else. It manages the wireframe just fine.

Well... you did sound like a pr*ck but I guess its one of those instances where it's okay to do or say whatever you so choose if you start off with sorry, but... Not sure if you were just in a hurry to attack a newbie in order to satisfy some complex lacking in other aspects of your life but I was asking about printing and cutting for Corel. I did not specifically specify that I did not plan on doing both tasks with the same piece of equipment. I do own a vinyl cutter. One that actually has an optic eye because 2 years ago when it was purchased, it was planned to add a large format printer when I could. I am not a newbie to the sign business and in fact my family has been in business for 20 years. We are in a small town where adding a ton of debt isn't something done lightly and I chose to buy this printer knowing its substandard status so that I could familiarize myself with the process and see how my business responded before spending my child's college fund in order to buy one. Omg, really? A person who doesn't put themselves in debt up to their ears and does as much research and preparation before expanding on an already successful and stable business model. Wow, guess you didn't expect that. Sorry to sound like a b*tch, but maybe you should read a little better next time so you don't assume everyone is an idiot except yourself. Thanks for the help, glad to know my fellow collegues have my back and want to share their knowledge with one another.

I would suggest maybe finding an older version of FlexiSign print & cut. It has a built-in rip with drivers for that machine. Sign warehouse used to sell a stand-alone lite rip for that machine called Prismrip, which I used on an old Falcon. No idea if they still sell such a thing or not but might be worth a call to them at least?
