Falcon Outdoor Print Head Problems

OK here's the story.

Turned the printer off.

I pulled the KCM head. (No Problem)

I cleaned it with cleaning solvent in an ultrasonic cleaner. (The K was clogged pretty good) When complete all 3 (KCM) had a nice "rainfall" of cleaning solution easily pushed through them with a syringe.

Reinstalled the newly cleaned print head (No Problem)

Turned the machine back on.

Ran a cleaning cycle and nozzle check print, then a print of 4 orange triangles.

This is the result.

It is overprinting on the heater bar on both sides of the 60" banner material I have in it. You can also see it on the print that is supposed to be the orange squares.

Any and all help is very much appreciated.
Thank-you in advance.

recheck that you seated the head cables nice and tight, and correctly - appears to be a data issue - hope you didnt spill ink on your boards while doing the head remove/replace...

Thanks,

No ink was spilled.

I just blew it off with some canned air.

The cable was seated tightly but has a "bent" connector on the bottom. It was that way when I took the head out the first time though.

i hope you could update us on how things go. i tried to ultrasonic clean my print head using a basic cleaner before, and i got the same results you are now experiencing. i figured that my ultrasonic cleaner splashed some cleaning solution onto my head circuitry, and ruined them. i replaced them promptly with a new head [since my cables were fine then]. :(

I pulled the head again this morning three different times, all with pretty much the same results.
I also flipped the cable around thinking maybe putting the bent pin in a location that wouldn't be getting pushed and pulled a lot. That did nothing.

I have ordered a new head and cable from

http://solventinkjet.com/index.html

Print Head: $225.00
Cable: $15.00
Standard Ground UPS (2 days to me) $10.00

They are out of Denver, Colorado.
Prices are the cheapest I've seen. Jordan (the guy on the phone) was very nice and said they get their parts direct from Mutoh.
I talked to them on the phone and I can understand them.

Give them a look.

Not that I am aware of.

I think another user here got some bad heaters from someone claiming to buy from Mutoh, but they were 3rd party, improperly designed and caused some issues.

Head is bad

You push to hard threw the head with a syringe you will blow the membrane. That a DX2 head. I did it on a DX4 head and got the same results. It seem that when you stick the head in an ultrasonic cleaner the head and vibration clean it nicely but when you push solution threw the head, that another story. I usually let the pump that attach to the capping station do the work and it work nicely. What I have learned cleaning dozens of heads that if you push cleaning solution to hard, it a death trap.... Except for Konica heads out of HP9000 or Seiko 64's printers. they hold up a lot better.

First of all, there is no KCM Head on a 38" machine, there is a CMY Head and a K Head...

I don't know, do they also have a second business?
The phone #s are not the same.

The phone numbers are different but the address on their main site and the one on the invoices I have gotten are the same.

I have ZERO complaints about their service.

So here is word from Mutoh on Solvent Inkjet.com and Signage Specialists:

Ok, apparently they are the same company, and Signage Specialists is a current Mutoh Dealer.

You need to insure that what you are buying are Genuine Mutoh parts from other than authorized dealers, that should be reflected on your invoice as a Genuine Mutoh part with the Mutoh part# as well to insure that you are getting Mutoh parts from Mutoh.
