faster ripping

My Versaworks seems to be getting progressively slower to rip.
Any suggestions for faster rip speeds? - Thanks, Boyd

Where is the source file located? ie: is the RIP program having to pull it from a NAS somewhere? I'm thinking, and I could be all wet, but maybe the RIP program isn't slowing down, but it's a data communication problem. Or put differently, a data transfer problem.

my rip gets slower when:
a) original file is large and across the network
b) rip computer's hard disk space is getting full
c) running more than just the rip program on rip computer
d) keeping lots of files open in the rip

I've wondered about this... which computer spec affects this the most? I'm guessing CPU speed and HDD? Choucair? where are you? lol.

I also remember reading in a roland support doc somewhere, that bi-cubic takes longer over nearest neighbour (significantly).

From my experience, primarily CPU. When I'm RIP-ing in Flexi 10, my CPU is pegged at 100%. It uses very little memory, but takes every bit of CPU I can throw at it... Just upgraded to a 3.1 Tri-core with 12GB RAM from a 2.2 dual with 4GB RAM... can post results if anyone's interested.

Ive noticed that the speed depends on what your computer is built for, IE: Ram ; CPU ; ect. (like most have already stated) also if your not ripping from your computer if its a networked server that doesn't help either. I've also noticed that if its an imported file it tends to rip slower. Also if your running any background programs (music, adobe, IE, ect)

The computer in question isn't on a network and its used just to run Corel X3and Versaworks.
These are imported files, both .ai and .jpg
The problem seems to be cumulative so I thought there might be a spooler or cache that was storing old info and getting full but aside from the print logs I haven't found anything.
I haven't had any noticeable performance issues until this week when I started on a new, graphics heavy show where the Roland is getting a real workout.
The PC is a 2.4ghz unit with lots of ram. - Boyd
