FHWA highway fonts

I am quoting some signs for a hotel that will be on an interstate. These signs need to comply with DOT. The specs call for FHWA series "c" typeface. After doing some research on this it seems that there is no one singular font that is to be used... Highway gothic and roadgeek seem to be what some are using. Is there any one particular font that is supposed to be used? Or would I be ok using roadgeek?

I don't do much by way of highway signs... but I see that my version of Composer comes with Highway Gothic B, C, D, E & F. There aren't similar true type ones that you can purchase?

Also, a lot of states are switching to Clearface I think.
