I print with a converted CJ 500 and have always used matte banner material and it always prints great. On gloss Oracal 3641 or other gloss vinyl it's easy to get grainy prints if the heat is not right or the profile is not right etc.
I finally got around to getting a roll of matte vinyl and printed the same image and same profile as I did on the gloss vinyl and what a nice change. The matte vinyl printed like a charm.
So if you happen to struggle with grainy prints on gloss vinyl try some matte finished vinyl. If you need the gloss look, laminate it, as you would need to for most out door things anyway.
I'm sure a lot of you have already figured this out but I had always hesitated on getting the matte finish.
