Flexi on XP 64

I maybe purchasing a new computer that will be running dual core 2.8gb intel, 8 gigs of memory, nvidia 8600GT video, and Windows XP 64bit. My question is, will Flexi work on the 64bit version of XP or do I have to purchase a specific version of flexi? I am anticipating the purchase of a print/cut package and will be using this machine as a rip station. I have an existing 32bit xp machine for designing.

Thanks,
Matthew

We currently have a system running FlexiPRO v8.1 on Windows XP 64-bit. So far in the last three months that it has been running on this XP there have not been any incompatibility issues. We've noticed some program issues but they have occurred on both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows XP systems so it is not specific to the XP 64-bit.

One thing to think about, I'm not sure that XP (even the 64-bit edition) can actually utilize more than 4 GB of memory. If you are going to be running a rip station with XP, 4 GB of memory should suffice. It may be more efficient for your system to stick with 4 GB of memory (for now while running XP anyways) and spend the saved money from memory on a higher-grade workstation video card, such as the PNY nVidia QUADRO FX570. These nVidia cards are specially intended for design work and are high quality. Just an option perhaps!

I know others will correct me if I am wrong about XP 64-bit being able to recognize and use more than 4 GB!

Actually I found that 64 can infact see more than 4 gigs of memory. It was a while back, don't ask me how exactly as I don't remember... (it's been a while since I was in a Microsoft certification class).
I will definitely look into the card you mentioned. I'm traditionally a self-build, part time gamer so the 8600GT would have been just fine, but I'll do some research on your card.
The only reason why I'd end up with 8 gigs of memory, is that my local computer hook-up store is selling 4 gigs for $70 at the moment :thumb:
Thanks,

We run Flexi 8.5 on XP64 with 8gig of ram. It works fine now if they would just send me a USB key so I can unconnect the internet.
