fluorescent fixture inside JV33

I've often thought about installing a 48" fluorescent bulb inside the purple cover to illuminate the printing process as it happens. Has anybody out there done this? Your thoughts please.

i've got the little LED modules (for under counter kitchen lighting), even better would be LED tape but you'd have to find a cheap transformer. now sure if the fluorescent would be better.

i also have a par 50 halogen screwed to the ceiling on a snake thingy that points bright light right at my carriage station.

no matter what light you put in the hull, after you've had it for a hour you wonder how you managed without it. i've noticed it's now a stock item on several chinese dx5 printers.

LEDs mounted with 3M tape

Here are several shots showing the way we used LED lighting installed under the front cover of our JV-33.
They came in a strip of individual LED units that could be cut to length. We installed these three years ago, and the second photo shows them ON in a dark room.

First photo is almost too bright to show the lights, as I shot that photo from down low on the floor up into the underside of the printer.

I purchased the LEDs with 120v power supply, and just tapped into a switched line running 120v for the printer.

Whole project took less than three hours, and about $75 bucks.

I actually have a strip roll on order now for doing the same thing. Was planning on installing it in the lip just under the front cover. I ordered the roll on 6000k white in 24v and was going to just source power internally from the printers power supply since it has 24v outputs. Also ordered a small PWM dimmer that I'm going to install so I can easily turn them off or dim them if desired.

I lit up our printer with a roll of LED's from WalMart. About 16 bucks for 15 feet. Just looped it inside the cover with stick tabs and zip ties. Ran the cord out the back. Nice and bright and dirt freakin' cheap.

Just finished setting mine up - had some leftover sloanLED's from a job...mounted the units over caps and wipers further out so it lit up when opened thx for posting this making me get off my A$$ and get it done today!

Ok you all made me jealous. So I got the guys from in the back to come up and put some lights in my machine. WOW what a difference.

I totally forgot about this thread but I did install lights in our JV33 as well. Actually worried about tapping into the printers power supply since I do not know how much "excess" amperage its rated for so I just installed a little power supply in the same compartment just for the LED lights tying it directly into the incoming 120v so there will never be any issues with it interfering electrically with the printer. I went with white LED's (about 6000k). Put a strip in the top above the print platen, then also added a small strip to the bottom of the head service area on the left to make manual cleaning the bottom of the head easier. Finally wired in an on off switch for the lights on the front panel - I skipped the dimmer which I'll use on something else at some point....
