Font ID Request - 50's Movie Title

A friend of mine asked me what typeface was used in the attached sample, a frame grab from the opening title of a b-movie from the late 1950's. The typeface looks familiar, but I just can't put my finger on what it is. The sample is too small and rough for the What The Font tool at MyFonts to do any good.
