Probably just venting here but man o man I just dont get it. Customer asks if I will price match local rama-lama-ding-dong-signs quote. 4'x8' 10mm coro with full color print/laminated vinyl applied, get this $152.00. So after a fair mark-up on the substrate that leaves roughly 2.50 per sq ft to design, print, laminate & apply, WTF, just how much vinyl do you gotta design, print, laminate, apply at those prices to pay the overhead on your fancy little strip mall sign store? Why do I even bother with this frickin nonsense anymore? :banghead:

And they are paying about 8% off the top to SAR (at least that was what it was 16 years ago when I talked to them
extensively before starting my own shop without them).

New Vinyl

We've been using a new vinyl, Instant One Media, on coro. $130 for vinyl, $100 for laminate. No Bubble. So you're looking at $20 for vinyl, lam, and ink. $20 for labor and other materials? That's $100 profit. Sounds good to me.

The $130.00 he mentioned is for the WHOLE roll of 54x150 vinyl.

By the way, Instant One Media's Air Release vinyl is good for the price. I've used a couple of rolls.

i can print this on my flatbed for nearly no cost. I still wouldn't sell it that cheap at 1 off.

Did I mention there is a committee involved? They are gonna think this layout to death or at least until it is totally ineffective. Here I think we should add this, Hey I think we need to make that bigger but leave everything else the same. OK we all got together last night and we really like what you've got so far BUT we feel that maybe we should change the name of the event and add some more color and we need to definetly get some more information on there that should really be helpful if you can make it all fit. What do you think about making the date, location, phone number info bigger so that people will be able to see it? Arrrrrrrggggghhhhh!!!!!!

So nice when customer's actually listen to your recommendations, now where's that fishing pole.
