Gold leaf Mirrored?

nashvillesigns

Making America great, one sign at a time.
SO. finally have a customer who wants a mirrored image on glass on gold leaf. the image is a zodiac circle 36" diameter. i did a digital print on clear, reverse printed, but we both agree it looks asshat.
i found something that looks like a "florentine gold" but can't find if anything says about being two sided.
My knowledge says it can't be done. Most products are gold leaf colored on the front of the vinyl, but, is there a solution?
thanks.

I'd suggest that you learn glass gilding.
Not everyone can do it, and it will be a nice tool in your arsenal.

What Jill said. There is no vinyl that looks anything like real gilded glass.

I beg to differ. Avery double-gold is some amazing looking stuff and stuck inside the glass next to genuine water guilded glass very, very people would be able to tell the difference. Technically I guess you're still right....I think Avery is a polyester, not a vinyl.

Avery double gold is the only plotter cuttable metallic gold film that's double sided that I know of. The others are all silver on one side, gold on the other. The stuff cuts better than regular vinyl and goes on easier than regular vinyl. It's a bit pricey but if you use it you'll see why.

A 36" diameter circle in real gold leaf would be pricey. You would have to back it with clear to get the double image he is is talking about and to take care of all the holidays and to burnish the inside to get that mirrored look as the other side, well, I would suggest the material that post #2 and #7 suggest.
