Good 48"+ Viny Printer to go with Summa SummaCut 48" Cutter

I've done research and concluded that I want to buy a SummaCut 48" cutter because it has the best contour cutting and registration.

What is a good match for it in a vinyl printer:
- Auto Wraps
- Adhesive back Vinyl for application on foam core
- Full Color Banners
- Posters

What do you suggest in a decent printer in the $6k range?

Decent and new is in the $9 K range, minimum. (SignWarehouse PrismJet VJ48) But 6K has good leverage in the used market.

Meanwhile, I think you're spot-on in regard to OPOS X being the best contour-cutting registration.

The real question is which applications are you going to do most of? Banners, posters, tradeshows, etc. Some machines are geared towards certain applications and also do you know how much your willing to spend? For about $3k you can get a 60" Waterbased UV printer but there are pros and cons just need a little more info.

Im sorry I only saw part of your post. You did list what you want to do with it I am an idiot. Well for $6K your not going to get anything I think as good as an HP-5500 UV machine. Lol you could get 2 for $6k I think. Not the best printer for banners and wraps (cost of material is kinda high but you can do them) It would be great for posters and POP signage. I am bias towards these machines cause no matter what anyone tells you there are more 5500's out there then any other printer combined and its like that for a reason I think.

Mostly we will be doing posters, labels (laminated and not), and posters on foam core. The auto wraps and banners will be just done occasionally as we design something for a client. We may even continue to just outsource those items. However we want to be able to make the smaller items for our customers instead of always sending them to someone else.

I don't mind demo units or even used but I'm so unfamiliar with how to evaluate a specific piece of gear I have not pursued it. Is there a site for that has more than a few occasional classified ads for used wide format printers? If so what should I ask to make sure I'm not getting a dud.

Thanks for your advice so far.
