Grommet Machine Question...

So everything has been going fine...nothing is new

Problem is... The grommets don't make a solid connection on the reinforced corners of the banners...
we use hem tape so its like 4 banners thick, it won't cut all the way through and doesn't make a great connection to the bottom grommet...it can be pulled apart sometimes..

The hole itself has metal in it and the banner sometimes has to be cut out of the hole

is there a setting on the grommet machine that will make the top cut deeper or line up better with the bottom...it gets all bent up and makes it halfway...or maybe it is cutting too deep

Been using these same grommets for months with no trouble

grommet machine is a no name lever action, red one from grimco

:thankyou:

Can you set punch and die to get more clearance? We use a Hiker and when we do the multi-layer corners I lower the bottom die 2 full turns on the nut. Tighten the thumb screw and do the corners.

If you don't have the Hiker lets see the lock ring on the grommets you are using.
If it is the generic type it will be thin and almost flat.
These don't set well in the corners.
Get the Fastsnap brand - they work with the no name brand presses.
The lock rings on these have a rolled inner lip that has 6 little divots/teeth around the inner edge.
The difference is night and day when trying to set through tapped up reinforced corners.
I get mine from Gregory but I am sure they are available all over.
