I am going to the ISA show to get a new printer. I don't need a plotter, I prefer to keep the machines separate. I am looking at the Epson GS6000, of the Roland VS54. Roland said that the GS6000 has the same print head as the VS540, the price on the GS540 is about 7,000.00 lower, can I get some opinion on which printer to get please. (i will lease)

Get the Epson- much quicker and broader color gamut. You won't be disappointed.

Stop by the Advantage Sign Supply booth- they will hook you up!

we looked at the GS6000 and the Roland XC540.

we went with the Epson GS6000 due to speed.

it runs like a champ. been 3 months of heavy use and no hassles.

I don't have either but if you want to keep cutting on a separate machine I'd go with the GS6000, obviously designed as a print only machine, your money not spent on technology you don't need (print & cut).

Also I noticed that as far as I could see the print speed is not shown on specifications for the VS-540. Must not be too proud of it.

On the GS6000, I heard that the costs are way high (.85 sq. ft.) The inks run 240.00 a cartridge. Do you GS6000 owners find a lot higher costs with the machine?

The GS 6000 ink carts are 950 ml so keep that in mind when considering ink cost. I monitor my ink cost through my rip software and I am typically around $.19 per sqft for most of the full coverage work I produce.
