Hey, A few months back i ordered my first roll of 13oz ultraflex jetflex matte banner. Ordered another roll that came in today and this is nothing like the last on the finish. The other was a semi-gloss look and this is a true matte finish.

Just wanted to see if it was me or did they change their look some?

My guess is you first got JetFlex and now you got Superprint plus.

Both 13 oz but Superprint plus is cheaper and way more Matte.

Is the sono tube it came in tagged with Logos in black or Colored?

If it is black it is Superprint.

Yes, I hated this. I bought UltraFlex BioFlex the old material very nice finish print with high quality. Now they change new material and they claim it thicker but took out the nice finish. Our Roland EcoSolvent did not print the same quality if customer place same order again. Interstate Electric still hold our $600.00 return rolls 2 months already still work out with ultra flex to return our money.

The tube is super thick tube material with cork ends. The label is full color and says ultraflex and has 30" checked off, 164' and matte checked off.

The print quality seems the exact same just the material is more matte, almost like wool

I'm glad yo made this thread. Although in the business for 22 years, I am about to get my new (first) printer, and I will be getting a (54") roll of banner material with it. Should I select the gloss or matte? I know, I know.......I should have both on hand, but I am just getting started with the printing side of things and am trying to keep the material purchasing down to a dull roar.

Do customers generally prefer and want the matte, or gloss for outdoor banners? Are there any potential printing problems with the gloss?

We ended up going with matte for the most part, though we started using gloss (and we used Ultraflex 13 oz. almost exclusively). The reason is, after printing, the solvent in the ink pretty much knocked the sheen of the gloss banner down to make it look more matte or semi-gloss. After trying matte, it seemed to print just a touch better and the overall sheen of the banner was more consistent (between printed and non-printed areas). Also, my personal preference is matte as you don't get the glare in some cases that you get with gloss. Just my opinion.

Thanks. So if you were to go with one, it would be matte?

Anybody else have an opinion on this?

I usually almost always use matte. Gloss is just too much in my opinion. It is probably just me but it seems to look better longer. The only time we had gloss in stock was when a Grimco rep came by with 3 150' rolls for $150

I use matte because it tends to take ink alot better. I find you can run jobs on high speed on the matte with ZERO grain because it takes the ink so well. My customers never ask if it's gloss or matte material because they don't know what's what.

I heard that gloss tends to not take ink as well and rubs off easier, Not sure but i have no problems with the matte.

I use matte banner and gloss vinyl. No one has ever asked for a gloss banner (or a matte one either).. they just take what we make and do not know the difference.

I have used Jetflex exclusively for 3ish years, but this week got stuck short and had to by some Montroy house brand "Moncor"... obviously rebranded chinese stuff. It was a fair bit cheaper, but felt stiffer and thinner than the Jetflex. There was also a stronger PVC smell.

Even so, it took the print just fine and I doubt the customer cares. i have not seen the "new" JetFlex.
