Head Carriage hitting capping station harder?

Kentucky Wraps

Kentucky Wraps
Every time my head carriage goes back into the housing and hits the capping station latch that moves it up to the heads...it sounds way louder than it used to.
The office is just as quite and loud as usual...but I'm noticing it way more than I remember.
I vaguely remember a tech saying something about the possibility of slowing it down or something.
Have any of you noticed this happen before? Are you aware of any cause or remedy? I don't think it will result in any mechanical problems...I just don't remember it being that loud each pass.

Hey Kentucky,

Just double check that the capping station moves up and down *very* freely - I had a problem with mine, where ink & cleaner had worked its way down into the "hinge" section of the capping station, and it had become "gummy" and was inhibiting the free movement of the station when the head moved into the capping position. In fact Mine became so sticky that the little "tab" that sticks up from the station (that the print head contacts to raise the caps as it moves to the right), actually snapped off!

I cleaned the whole capping station with eco ink solvent/flush and also used a bit of Automotive "Mass Airflow Sensor" cleaner to clean the moving parts of the capping station and clean out the old gummed up ink. (Before using the airflow cleaner, I soaked a Q-Tip in the solvent and tested it against the plastic of the capping station in an area that would cause no problem if the solvent were to actually react with the plastic that the capping station is composed o. Mass Airflow Cleaner is basically a less harsh version of Brake-Kleen. I'm reasonably sure "non Chlorinated" brake or airflow sensor cleaners will not harm plastic. Bear in mind though that I have an old SC500, long ago "Un-Waranteed" so I am a little "less frightened" to use alternate cleaners. In any event I would not let any of them come into contact with the print heads/carriage/Actual Caps/etc..

Anyhow, I have no Idea of your machine has the same symptoms, but I did notice a "louder" clacking noise as the heads parked prior to the station getting so gummed up it snapped the tab.
