Hello from Huntsville, AL!

Good Morning!

I'm not new to this site, but the company I'm now working for is. Also, I can't recall ever actually posting in here to introduce myself. So here I am! I'm Seth Berry, I work at Blue Orbit Sign Studio here in Huntsville, and my position here is chiefly graphics (design/production/installation)... Though I'm basically the ultimate "floater". My father had a small sign shop in rural Alabama when I was a kid, and he was one of the best in North Alabama at hand-lettered signage, if not the best. I started out putting coats of gloss white on 4' x 8' sheets of masonite and digging postholes as a pre-teen in the early 1990s, eventually trying my hand at layouts and lettering. Dad still does signs on the side, though very sporadically. The man can literally do anything though, he has more talent in his little finger than I do in my whole being, and I'm pretty damn talented!

Fast forward to 2004, I was 25 and had just taken a hiatus from the music business and moved from Chattanooga to Huntsville. After failing miserably to work in an engine plant (ever the rebel), I landed a position at the local Signs Now. I'd never worked with vinyl before, and after a rather embarrassing start, I was off and running in the world of modern signage.

Over the past 20 years, I've worked in nearly every position there is in the industry, for both soft signage (Alabama Flag & Banner, Xarisma) companies and "regular" sign shops. The latter includes Sign-A-Rama (twice), Trav-Ad Signs (twice), the aforementioned Signs Now (closed), Metro Signs (now Metro Wraps & Tint), and probably another couple I'm forgetting. I've sold signs, designed signs, made signs, installed signs, and serviced signs. The only thing I haven't done is weld, only because the shops I worked at always had welders. I'd like to learn, though.

Anyway, that's my little Cliff's Notes backstory. Glad to be here with Blue Orbit and looking forward to increasing my knowledge even further!
