I've done it before but now I can't get these Corel x4 files into Illy. I tried to save my file as an ai and open that. Illy wants to "rasterize the pdf". So I tried saving my corel file as an eps. Same deal. "Rasterize pdf". WTF am I doing wrong? I gotta get these files sent to my print guy.

I don't have Coral, but have there been any options in the save dialogue that you might have changed around the time that might have affected that?

I'm just spitballing here. I haven't had an issue with opening Coral files in Ai, but I don't get that many either and I don't work in Coral.

Never mind....

(I had mistakenly opened Photoshop instead of Illustrator.... Photoshop won't import an eps or ai file unless it rasterizes it. Duh.)

Getting old sucks.

What version of PS are you running? Newer versions of PS are able to import vector files (eps, ai, pdf) as Smart Objects and keep them vector.

Think you have to have the PDF compatibility option checked though in order for it to do that, at least with Ai files in my experience.

I have Photoshop CS..... and "oldtimers".

What I really want to do is draw everything in Corel like I always do then open it in Illy so I can save it as an .ai file for my print guy. I can open an Illy file in Corel by clicking "open". I wish I could do the same the other way around. 'Twould make life a tiny bit easier. Then again, if I could that, I could just send my print guy the Corel file. Why doesn't Adobe fix this issue? Geez....
