Help!! Vinyl will not load on SP300V- Coming up as 0.0 wide

It did this last week but then I just lifted up the rollers and it scanned again and worked.

Now today nothing. Still at 0.0 no matter what I put in it.

Something dirty?

And i tried by disabling edge and still nothing

any ideas???

thanks

Well I just cleaned the area where the vinyl goes across and now i'm getting a left pinchroll error.

It's in the right area..

back in my days as a tech...had this same issue on the same machine...it was the long cable that ran from the carriage board to the servo board. it was bad and wouldn't communicate with the sensor to read the pinch rollers

Is that something that only the dealer can change?

We're having the same problem at different times. I did some trial and error and found out if the head reads 27.8 all is good. If we move the pinch roller past that [wider], it will read 0.0 or read pinch roll error. There are no problems if we set the pinch roller to a lesser width either.

Some days we'll fire up the machine first thing in the morning and all will be fine. No problems with width or pinch roller errors.

I figured it was a cable getting pinched off or a break in a wire. We'll order a new cable and replace it.

Replacing is not such a big deal. Make sure you order the clear plastic strips that go above and below the cable. Also order some extra pins and sleeves. I always turn the printer off and unplug it before doing this. If you need some help, pm me and I'll do what I can to talk you thru it.

Had the same problem. I got by awhile until I installed the cut carriage cable by moving the pinch rollers inward until I got a reading. I lost about an inch of material. I'd give it a shot it may work and you can keep printing until you get the new cable.

Had the same issue recently and replacing the carriage cable did it.

There is a FANTASTIC tutorial on here somewhere.

When you get the first little black rivet out, lay it on a table a scream every horrible thing you can think to call it. Get it over with on the first one and you don't have to waste your breath on the other 33.:banghead:
