High performance matte?

I'm looking for a matte finish high performance vinyl for fleet graphics. It will not be used for wraps, simply logos and striping. It will also have a gloss laminate over it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Let me just go ahead and say it first......why in the h@ll would you want a matte material only to laminate it it in gloss? And why would you laminate thermal cut vinyl anyway? Just curious

Matte vinyl

I've got an older machine that profiles are hard to find and the previous owner had really good results with matte vinyl and laminating. Figured I'd try it. Also I add a laminate to extend the uv protection of the ink.

In our experience laminating matte with gloss does not look as good as gloss with gloss lam. Matte has a texture which the lam has a hard time getting into the nooks and crannies. Matte with matte lam turns out very nice though.

We run a cold RS laminator.

Yes I am printing on it. The reason I had mentioned matte because in theory it would absorb the ink better. The issue I'm having is the ink is sorta sitting on the surface and not soaking in and looks as if there is a silicone coating on it. I'm using 3651ra and it has pitting and scaling in the ink. I've adjusted the temps back to front. Didn't help much. Will switching to 3551ra help this issue?

3551 and 3651 are calendared and not high performance vinyl.

I'm not sure that the texture of the vinyl has a whole lot to do with what colors you can hit. My guess is your over saturating the vinyl with ink. If you have an orange peel/mottled look to your darker solid colors and your darker colors bleed into each other, your either putting down too much ink, not running enough passes, temps are too low, or all of the above.
