highway billboard

Have a customer of mine who leased large billboard on highway (10x40ft) So they want me to price out graphics & install.
I did couple of them before with dibond panels. But they are looking for cheapest way possible & i am thinking about getting huge banner. (coroplast is out of the question cuz it warps like crap)

So who did them before, how hard was the install, how many people to do it?

Seriously? Gator board?

Just order a banner wrap. I just did a 10' × 20', and ordered it from indy imaging. They are 13 oz, and they add about 8" and a pole pocket on all 4 sides. Took 2 men less than an hour to take the old wrap off, and install the new one... do take new ratchet straps, because using the old ones usually isn't worth the hassle. You can get new ones from harbor freight for cheap.

Are you talking about regular ratchets? I was trying to find some info about securing that kind of banner in place on a billboard but could not find any good info (Seen some here done by other with grommets & screws, but don't like it) I understand part about pole & pole pockets on the banner, but how do you exactly put it in place in the back of the billboard?

Another important thing that i did not mention - these billboards are very simple ones, steel pole with plywood base & they are using both sides. So if i will go with banner system it will cover opposite side & we are not allowed to do that since billboard company rents another side to another customer. So in this case, would dibond paneling be the only way to do it?

I would use a 'sized to fit' banner instead of dibond, screwed to the ply. especially if customer wants 'cheap'

We just did this 7' X 60' and then one on the other side that's 7' X 25' and it's just standard 13oz banner. We just frame it out with wood, then fasten all the grommets to it. We've done them up to 20' X 20' in 13oz standard banner and not had any issues. They normally fade before they have any issues with tearing.

Just an old ratchet strap. Each end hooks into a pole inserted into the pole pocket, and it pulls any wrinkles out...

The only thing to watch is where the poles butt together sometimes will want to bunch and wrinkle, but it can be worked out.

If I get a chance, I will get out and take a photo of the back of the billboard to give you an idea.

• ratchet strap the banner material into place, pole pockets all edges and use a sturdy material in the pocket to racket off of installation is similar to a flex face
• if you cannot get to the backside of the frame then grommet / screws

As far as i know, they offer it, but customer does not have to get it done thru them, so if customer of mine want to use me for it, they are totally fine with it.

P.S. And yeah, ratchets are out of the question on this one. Its either grommets & screws or acm panels

I agreet. The only thing is that all billboards there are ACM panels. So billboard company may require to do it same way. Will find out.
