Really do a search on printer maintenance.
The caps should be cleaned twice a week with a clean room clothe and cleaner to clean dried ink on the rubber surfaces. The stainless steel rim around the heads should be cleaned as well, along with the wipers.
You should put a few ml of cleaner in each cap and some down the flush pads to keep those lines clean.
