I'm not a fonthead, and I'm embarrassed to say that I have the capability to look at Times New Roman on a sign and say "I wonder what font that is", and I'll do it again next week.
Having said that, I am more than happy and willing to purchase fonts when we need them. Problem is we deal with people who don't know exactly what they have, nor do they know how to find out.
Right now I have a font to buy and I'm told it's a specific font. I go to buy the font and there are 5 or more variations of that same font. Since I'm looking at nothing but a 50 px tall jpeg off of their website, and the 5 variations are so close to each other, how does one determine exactly which font? Is it the Roman, the semi-bold?
Just curious how you all handle figuring out which font it is when there are several in the same font family that are all so close.
Any suggestions?
