How do you open a CMYK file in flexi without it converting it to RGB?

I am stumped.

I have an Ai file a client sent with CMYK colors that HAVE to be reproduced.

I open it in Flexi and it turns everyhing to RGB. Everything is darker and over-saturated, it will NOT print correctly as RGB.

I need to import this file, which opens in every other program I have properly BTW, as CMYK.

ICC profiles are embedded in the Ai file as well...So what am I missing here?

I don't know Flexi but from what you described it look like the output profile is set at RGB. Make sure you go back to your RIP software (Flexi) and change the output to CMYK or SWOP..or simply convert your AI file to RGB tif.
Hope this help.

Are you bring it in to Flexi in order to print it or to edit in Flexi?

If is is strictly to output, I would avoid Flexi altogether, and bring the supported file directly into the RIP module (Production Manager) from the File Menu > Add Job. This workflow completely avoids whatever issues Flexi may or may not want to do with the file in order to edit it.

I have learned not to trust colors in Flexi. Even setting multiple objects to be the same color can be very frustrating. I already have had a solid color and a gradient ending on that same solid color (both from the same swatch) print out different colors.:banghead: Your best bet would be just to avoid Flexi and go direct to the Production Manager as suggested already.
