How to check the pump on the SP-540v?

I have been printing very little since last October, and doing print tests every week, and they have always been perfect, now for the last two weeks some of the nozzles are getting clogged every other day.

So, I have done a few cleanings, mostly reg and medium, and one powerful clean, yet I only have less that 1/4" of ink in the waste take, could that be right?

I hear many many stories about how much ink is wasted doing cleanings, if my pump was bad would that not pull ink when doing cleanings?

How can you test the pump?

Thanks for any help.

Few things that you can do...after you push the clean button on the printer take a look if enough ink being dispensed into the waste bottle if no ink or some air bobbles coming out it means the ink lines either clogged up or you may need new ink pumps. Also check to see if too much ink stays in the capping. Most of the time the problem is with the ink tubing clogged, when you don't use the printer enough that is when problem starts with your printer..

Ok, when you say "Also check to see if too much ink stays in the capping", exactly what do I look for?

If it's too much ink stays in the capping the ink lines are not draining,,, need to push some cleaning solvent through the lines using a syringe, you may have to play by pulling and pushing the solvent so that it will loosen up the clogging, to have the ink flow again.,.
