If I got a HP 5500 non PS, that has had the hard drive removed for the rebate or something, and got a PS hard drive from the Ebay, would I have a 5500PS printer then?

No. A PS requires additional hardware.

Thanks. The guy said the HD was removed for 'client security', does the drive on a printer store information like a HD on the PC?
