HP L260 Error 15.10:00 dryer module bad

We have a HP L260 printer that just started this error code- 15.10:00 . We called our distributor that sold us the unit and of course the warranty ran out in Feb this year. They said its the dryer module part number CQ869-67035 which is $2400 from HP. So I have a couple questions for everyone on here that may have ran into a similar problem.

1. Is this the correct part to replace and if so is there somewhere cheaper to get it from?

2. Is there something else I should try first?

3. How difficult are these to replace? They want $800 labor to replace this part.

4. Does anyone have a for parts only L260 that they would want to take this part off and sell to us?

Thanks guys

Yikes. Call and complain. My dryer was replaced under warranty but the problem the tech hoped to fix remained. It turned out to be a sensor that was out of wack. Maybe you don't need the dryer but something else.

This is exactly what I'm worried about. We had a L25500 before and it had an I/O error. We replaced a $600 power unit and that didn't fix it. HP suggested replacing it again stating that our new power unit could be bad as well. We replaced it again and still didn't fix the error. HP then suggested the next part to try but couldn't confirm it would fix it. Meanwhile we were down for over 2 weeks with orders piling up so we bit the bullet and bought the new L260.

Perhaps out the the goodness of HP's heart, they could agree to walk you through doing the labor of replacing the part yourself, and not charge for their time? Might save $800 on Labor if they are willing, I'd sure ask! Sorry you have such a high priced part to replace, hope you get an affordable fix and are up and running again soon! Also, see if they will discount the actual part. That just sucks.

As a point of reference I'd bet you can get a full working L255 machine with low miles for under $4k. I know we will be swapping out 4 L255s soon, and research shows to expect around that # out of these units on the secondary market. Might be worth parting out the one you have if you can get a working unit.

A HP Service contract on that machine is only a couple of hundred dollars a month. Being that the machine is only out of warranty a month or two it won't cost you much to get it under service again. Much cheaper than paying for parts and labor.
