HP Latex 360 and L26500 color matching

Hey all!

We have a new 360 and a previous gen L26500, both great machines. The challenge is to get them to match in color and I don't even know where to begin with doing that. We usually have them doing their own individual jobs but it would be nice to have them both outputting the same colors for some of our larger jobs where we could have them both working on the same job. Is that possible? And if so, how?

Get both of your printers profiled to G7 standards. Then they will match between the two when you run the same jobs on the same stocks.

I think the trick is going to be to lower the ink limits on the L26500 to try to match the forced low ink limits on the L360 before profiling.

Hi

I've done this on a good number of occasions now - no problems to report.

Colour gamuts are pretty close despite the ink limit fears on the 360.

The main issue is you have to realise that the on-board icc profiling system is not the one to use if absolute colour accuracy is key.

For most people it is fine but when you have a colour critical application you must recognise it's limitations.

For spot colour matching etc you need to build your icc outside the printer - the on-board device simply isn't accurate enough for a good match.

Build your initial calibration on the printer - temps, passes & ink limit...then do the linearization and icc in the rip.

You will get a very close match on most substrates.
