HP Latex 360 - Fans revving very high randomly during print operation?

Hey everyone.

So we came in to the shop this morning with nothing changed at all & now our 360's fans are revving very high during print operation. This happens in random intervals at random times. The fan sound is very obvious; it is loud & they are revving high enough to hear it as a probable issue? It has not done this in about a year of usage; the printer has worked perfectly so far; no fans have been revving randomly. Of course there is the normal high revving of the fans at the end of a print job (during the final stages of the drying/cooling off process), but this new issue is not the same operation as the revving is very high, and randomly up & down, during print operation, & not after.

We are using the same media we have used a million times over with the same profiles. No updates have been made anywhere. We noticed that the heat platen reading goes down in temperature when the fans rev, then the temp reaches back up to the profile minimum after the rev stops. Also, when the heat lowers during fan revving, we noticed the heat is possibly not being evenly dispersed across the platen because we can feel the difference in temp. with our hand as we move it near the heat platen from left to right. Another indicator of heat not being dispersed properly is that when this occurs, in the middle left area of the print itself (which is solid color across the entire 60" wide media), the ink comes off the media by the touch of the finger, yet at the same time towards the edges of the media, the ink is solid & completely scratch proof. We are assuming the heat is not curing the ink in the middle area during the not-normal fan revving which is a major issue for ink durability.

We are wondering if this is a technician issue (repair people), or possibly a sensor is blocked with dust/printer ink dust to make the fans react incorrectly & then lower the platen heat unevenly even though it shouldn't be? Nothing can be found in the manual for this (of course, as usual!). Nothing in the troubleshooting guides or google on this.

Thanks in advance for the help.
